Connecticut governor to be impeached

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Members of a special legislative committee that has been considering whether Gov. John G. Rowland should be impeached asked its lawyer to draft an article of impeachment Friday because he has not cooperated with their probe.

Quote:
The decision came after a lawyer for Rowland refused to testify, under oath as a witness, before the House Select Committee of Inquiry about why Rowland and his wife have not yet turned over almost 10 years worth of personal financial records.

Re: Connecticut governor to be impeached

The article I saw noted that they were drafting the articles as a way of pressuring him to turn over the records, while he's claiming that he doesn't have them. They don't expect to use them on this round, but are leaving open the possibility of impeachment depending on their findings.

The title is a little misleading. It's still just a possibility.

Connecticut has a long history of corrupt polliticians coming from Bridgeport and Waterbury. It's no surprise that Rowland (who was a Waterbury bigwig) is also corrupt.

I lived in Waterbury. A place where your vote counts even when you're dead. I bet my husband is still voting there and he doesn't even know it.
