PC History

Yesterday a re-enactment of the 200 year old Battle of Trafalgar was 'fought'. The Battle of Trafalgar was won by Admiral Nelson against the French fleet during the Napoleonic wars.

But the re-enactment was staged between the Red Ships and the Blue ships. The British thought this would not be as offensive to the French as having the British navy whip the French navy once again under British and French flags.

If they didn't want to offend perhaps the British could have offered to lose to the French this time.

(The article was in today's L. A. Times, if anyone wants more info).

Re PC History

What's the sense of re-enacting it?

They could have just called them Freedom ships.

God, I hate it when anyone tris to be polite. Those damnable Brits.

I see this more as goofily, endearingly quaint.

But maybe that's an unflattering comment, too.
