Remember those benchmarks for Iraq that Bush promised?

"The Bush administration, which six months ago issued a series of political goals for the Iraqi government to meet by this month, is now tacitly acknowledging that the goals will take significantly longer to achieve."

Really? Gosh, you don't say.

Re member those benchmarks for Iraq that Bush promised?

Shouldn't we cut them some slack? After all, they would do the same for us. Oh, wait.

Ever hear of Zeno's paradox, where you go halfway to your destination... then halfway, then halfway? It's like that, except we're only going 1/3 of the way and the target is also moving.

At least the Bush plan is bearing fruit.
Quote:
Slightly more than half of Iraqis 51 percent now say that violence against U.S. forces is acceptable -- up from 17 percent who felt that way in early 2004. More than nine in 10 Sunni Arabs in Iraq now feel this way.
Bush pleads for patience in Iraq war - Yahoo! News
Quote:
With Democrats pushing for an end to the Iraq war now entering its fifth year, President Bush pleaded for more patience Monday, saying success is possible but "will take months, not days or weeks."
How many months? 360? The poor man is beyond delusional.

Perhaps 3600 months. Remember right after 9/11 when Cheney and Rumsfeld were saying that the War on Terror would take "longer than our lifetimes" and "generations"? And then several years later, they were saying that Iraq was the front on the War on Terror. Put those two things together, and you have a war in Iraq that could last a lot longer than we will ...

At least Iraqis are hard at work on those critical benchmarks.

Will the war's dwindling number of supporters ever acknowledge that the war is lost?

New take on local conservative radio: it's all the Iraqi's fault for not taking up the slack. Blaming Bush is crazy talk.

Blaming Bush for the Iraq war is like blaming Bush for your ulcer. Or for puppies dying. Or for the eruption of Krakatoa. What, do you blame Bush for everything that happens????

Re member those benchmarks for Iraq that Bush promised?

The supposedly important benchmark that means a lot less than most people think:
"U.S. ignorant on Iraq oil law"

"It’s like watching a con game in which the mark knows in advance he’s going to lose."

Set your goalpost really low, miss completely, and declare success. That is is the essence of the Bush plan.

Thank you, Memory Hole!

Re member those benchmarks for Iraq that Bush promised?

Now it's all clear why Tony Snow is leaving. He's running out of things to directly contradict himself on.

Re member those benchmarks for Iraq that Bush promised?

Well, at least that "critical" oil-revenue sharing bill that "must" be implemented by Iraqis is doing so well.

There's a new catchphrase in town: "Iraqi solutions."
