Vonage vs Telcos

Curious to find out what other happy Vonage users think of the recent injunction faced by Vonage.

I love Vonage. I hate land lines. We've decided in our house that barring a successful appeal, we will not get a land lline if Vonage is forced to close up shop. We'll use cell phones and eFax.

What do ya'll think of the injunction? Will it stick or crumble on appeal? Will it affect all VoIP or just Vonage? Will you go back to an overpriced land line or find a solution that speaks to the telcos with your wallet by leaving them out of the equation?

Re Vonage vs Telcos

It's going to stick. The real question is whether they will get enough time to scramble around the patent infringement or just get enough time for their customers to find a new service.

We've discussed this on another board I'm on and common consensus is that Verizon REALLY wants the customer base. Issue is that they charge way more for VOIP than Vonage does.

Re Vonage vs Telcos

I won't give my money to the big TelCos unless I have to (like for cable internet, where my work depends on it). I have a personal issue with them since the whole NEtwork Neutrality thing started. So Verizon won't get my money for VoIP or regular phone. Ever. And should an affordable alternative to ComCast come along, they wont get my money for internet anymore either. (DishNetwork, my television company, now offers internet over satellite in conjunction with another comapny, but the upfront cost is out of my range)
