| | Wow.
Egypt made my jaw drop - all those people and that one table of food. Then I got to Chad.
I'd like to know where the British family shopped, too. I've bought groceries there, and spent way more than that. Of course, healthy foods cost a lot more than some of the junk shown.
This is really incredible. I've already gotten the boys started on a project using that, Margaret. Right now they are fixing to use the info provided and make up a chart showing average income in those various countries. Thank you for posting this. |

| | I came across it because I'm struggling with money still and I've budgeted myself at about $25 a week for food. This is less than the amount that people on food stamps get. I'm finding it very doable, but, I run out of ideas for foods to make, and I am lazy. I still prefer convenience foods for their convenience.
When I lived with my parents the three of us ate for about $250 a week. It's a big adjustment.
This might also be a good life lesson for the boys to have to make a budget and a meal plan for the week, Cindy. Definately good life skills, math, following directions, etc. lessons could come out of this. |

| | Margaret, you might want to try these two blogs: Money Saving Mom
and that one hasn't been up very long, you might want to try going back in time a bit here, looking for the grocery and money saving posts on her original blog: Biblical Womanhood
Please don't be put off by the overall scope of the blog, just look for the money saving posts. They have a $35/week grocery budget for their family - 2 adults, a toddler and a baby.

| | What someone needs to do is figure one out for a family with food allergies. I can't do MILK for $35 a week. |

| | The most eye opening part is how much junk we have on our tables vs the more natural and fresh products that other countries have.

| | True. But, feeding your family healthy food costs a lot more than some of the junkier stuff. And preparing everything from scratch takes a lot longer, too. I can't figure out how working moms could make a meal which I must start at around 2 or so in order to serve supper by 6:30 or so. |
