It's not secret that I'm not a fan of the current administration, but I'll be the first to praise when they do something that I like.
FMLA benefits have been extended for military families. Quote:

With the expansion, spouses, children, parents or other next of kin of a service member who is seriously injured or ill can now take up to 26 weeks of leave in a 12- month period to care for that person. National Guard and Reserves duty are included.

There are also provisions for military family members to take 12 weeks in advance of a deployment to help prepare and care for children.
FMLA is far from perfect. There is some debate now about whether the govt is making it harder for employees to take advantage of benefits and there are other problems with the program. I don't want to start a debate about that here (but feel free in the symposium).
The law may not be perfect. It can use dome improvements, but overall it's a good thing, and this makes it better.
