I don't understand what significance that quote is supposed to have, other than the fact that college "kids" don't have a clue when it comes to controlling what's going to be seen on television. |
The Obama campaign could solve any future problems with this stagecrafting of his appearances by saying that the seats behind him will be given out on a first come-first served basis, no 'casting' for the photo ops. |

| | And the Obama campaign needs to stop saying it's a 'smear' to call him a Muslim. It may be incorrect, a lie, whatever...but the use of the word 'smear' is, in itself, a smear. |

The people spreading the falsehoods are implying it's a bad thing. That's why it's a smear.
Just because they're wrong twice doesn't make it not a smear. Perhaps "attempted smear" is more accurate, but yeah, it's still a smear because in some cases people swallow the whole thing.

Even when a lie is presented with a disclaimer, people often later remember it as true.
With time, this misremembering only gets worse. A false statement from a noncredible source that is at first not believed can gain credibility during the months it takes to reprocess memories from short-term hippocampal storage to longer-term cortical storage.

| | Oh sweet Jesus. Got the "Look at the scary things Obama says in his books! forward this to everyone, this man CANNOT be president!!!" email from someone at church. Hit reply all with a message saying "please check these things out before forwarding, here's the Snopes link." I get a message back from her saying "I'm taking you off my forward list, you take everything too seriously." Well jeez, the email makes some rather serious allegations, no?! I replied saying that and telling her I would have replied the same way had she sent me an email full of BS about McCain but I doubt she'll "get" it.

| | MJ--I got the same email from my cousin a few weeks ago, and I replied the exact same way with the snopes link. I haven't heard back from him. I know people are going to forward junk, but that email did make some major statements that were not true. And I agree, if it was a McCain email I would have checked it out too.
He (my cousin) always sends me the junk stuff about Obama, so I finally asked him to stop. I didn't want to read it, and I am tired of proving him (my cousin) wrong.
