Re 10 things to like about $4 gas

One of our docs owns a big SUV -- which he keeps parked in his garage for about 11.5 months out of the year. He needs to get himself and his wife (one of our nurse practitioners) to the hospital even when the weather is bad and doesn't want to count on waiting for a ride, so he keeps it. His wife told me that he bought a small commuter car to drive and the car payment AND gas for the smaller car cost him less than just gas for the SUV back when gas was about $2.50/gallon. So there may be more SUVs in Buffalo than you know about if people hang onto them for the occasional bad-weather drive.

I read somewhere that teen death in auto accidents will go down with $4.00/gallon gasoline. Can't afford to go joyriding around. I'm for that.

Re 10 things to like about $4 gas

Hmm... do you think so? I always think of teens as having more disposable income than their parents because teens have almost no bills. My expenses as a teen were my phone bill and my car insurance, both of which are not directly affected by the price of oil. I guess it could cut into the teens' disposable income if the teens don't work.

Re 10 things to like about $4 gas

Here is one iteration of the article.

As gas prices rise, teen driving deaths fall : National : The Buffalo News

Expects a 6% decline in highway deaths among those 15-17. 1,000 fewer deaths per month overall.

Wow. Maybe gas should go to $20 a gallon.

RTD-after cutting light rail routes and bus lines, is not talking about raising fares and charging for parking

because really, the executives who make million dollar or at least hundred thousand dollar bonuses really need those bonuses, it's not like we need affordable public transportation right????

RTD is a publicly funded company-on top of fares, they get I think it's $500 every time someone in Colorado buys a new car-it may be more now..
