| | AP announced it's going to be Sara Palin.
OK everyone, let's say it all together: "Who the hell is Sarah Palin?"

| | It makes sense that McCain would expect Hillary supporters to easily dump one woman for another. He's got personal experience with that. |

I've heard positive things about her. I can't of course tell you any, but I'm sure we'll all find out more about her as time goes on.

| | JP, I hate to say this, but this move DID swing me back into thinking about McCain. Given that I liked neither of the candidates and that testing shows that each candidate aligns my way of thinking about half way, I will at least look at the VP choice and see if she is remotely ok with me. Given McCain's age, if she is a reasonable person it would give me some hope of having a woman president in my lifetime.
If Obama had been more of a clear choice for me based on his views, this VP choice would make no difference at all to me. But, given my current situation, the female VP is a valid tie-breaking consideration (once I learn more about her.)

| | Will women vote for her just because she is a woman or will they be angry because they'll feel McCain is pandering to the female vote?

| | It depends on how easily swayed they are...but I think it's a valid question.
I won't vote for a woman just because she's a woman, but I will vote for a qualified VP candidate if s/he stands for the things I do and has some plans to implement.
Just a heartbeat away, remember.

| | I feel sorry for the misogynistic racists - now they can't vote for either party's ticket.
But seriously I don't think the people who supported Hillary for her policies are going to vote for Palin's and McCain's policies just because of one candidate's gender. At least I would hope not - this should be about plans and platforms, not privates.

| | That never would have happened - the religious conservatives hated him. But they're weighing in fast with how happy they are with Palin.

I'd say not a bad pick except for the fact her husband is an oil guy. | Yes, but, according to TIME: Quote: |
She also successfully took on the oil industry, leading to a tax increase on oil company profits that now has the state's treasury swelling.
| That will probably speak volumes to the average Joe who feels cheated every time he hears about the latest quarter's profits at the major oil companies.

The fast blurb of policies that I read in the CNN article doesn't sway me toward her at all.
Still have several months to make up my mind, eh?

But she's only been governor for 2 years! Man, talk about a new comer. I mean...Wow, talk abut a new comer.
