My dad (84) would say the same. He's used it since WWII. The only reason it keeps him healthy is that hospitals won't let him use it so he doesn't want to go to one for ANYTHING!

Who doesn't understand how it can affect anyone else in the hospital and how they think they can get a good drug dosage amount when they don't take in consideration that the minute he walks out the door he's back using it again and nothing will change that.

I'm curious -- do you have a reference for that? What I've read is that nuns have similar life expectancies to women in general, but greater mental sharpness in the later years. Of course, women live a few years longer than men in general.

I can't remember where I read the above about mental sharpness, and a Google search is not helping at the moment.

Single women outlive married women, and married men outlive single men. I think the wives burn themselves out taking care of their husbands.

Or maybe it's shared bad habits. The biggest risk factor for heart disease is living with someone who has it. Unless you're in West Virginia, that's got to be shared bad habits, not genetics.

Nuns tend to share living space and to eat their meals together. Women who eat together, IMO, are less likely to share bad eating habits than women who eat with men.
