| | My mostest favoritist breakfast spot | | Tracy and I hit the road about 8:30 this morning to go shopping in Sherman which is 45 minutes away. My belly was growlin' so I was thinkin' that if I changed the most direct route a little I could make it so we would drive right in front of my mostest favoritist breakfast spot. I did.
As I pulled into the parking lot I had to dodge 18-wheelers, and the air smelled of diesel. You got it. It's a truck stop in Anna, Tx. Not just any truck stop mind you, but the one that serves the best pork chops, eggs, hashbrowns and biscuits I've ever stuck in my face. Don't know how anyone could ever top this place, but I'll let you try.
Got one? |

| | I like the little Greek diner over by Georgia Tech. But it is nothing special. (Unless you compare it to Waffle House.)

| | New York City has a lot of great stuff, but no one in this huge freaking city knows how to make really good hashbrowns.
One place is just as good as another here. The food is usually good, but I can't find a place that really stands out, especially in mid-town Manhattan where I work. The food is gentrified and yuppified.
A good breakfast has gotta have grease, one of my five basic food groups. The others are caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and sugar.
Still looking though.

| Rich, I'm talking butter. Brown. Crispy on the outside. |

| | Curtis, surely Austin had a kickass breakfast place. All I've ever been to there is the Embassy Suites at 290(?). |

| | I thought Curtis preferred the continental breakfast at the Red Roof. |

The place I liked when I was in law school was the Red River Cafe; not sure that it's there anymore.
Katz's Deli downtown has good blintzes if you like that sort of thing.
The main breakfast place I went to was Rick's, a little hole-in-the-wall near the Capitol; you'd need a native guide to find it.

| | There's an IHOP about a block away from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (the hotel is on Hollywood Blvd, the IHOP is on the next street over). We ate breakfast there for nearly a week--some of the best breakfasts I've ever had, especially at a chain-type restaurant. And they had good service.
In Richmond, Virginia, Millie's Diner serves fantastic brunch on Sundays. They omelettes and crepes are to die for.
I'm still looking for the ultimate eggs Benedict. Recommendations welcome.

Best breakfast between 2 AM and 6 AM
EJ's Cafe, Santa Barbara, CA
Best breakfast by the beach (Man, I miss Santa Barbara - hard to live elsewhere after over a decade there - got spoiled).
Junior's Deli, Los Angeles, CA
Best latkes, excellent kosher breakfast fare.
