I haven't tried them with whole wheat flour, but I make them every time I get ambitious and do a spicy curry. Baking them on a baking stone makes them turn out perfect - and yes, Pampered Chef is the way to go here, but if you don't have one, just buy a couple of unglazed terra cotta tiles from your local building store and line the middle shelf in your oven. They work for this and if they break you're only out a dollar or so.
