| | Tell me I'm not the only one who watches Good Eats on the Food Network? Even Kareem and the girls get into watching it. Anybody else here a fan?

| | I love it! Nick came home the other day ranting & raving about this new show he heard about, he was a little crushed when I told him I've been watching it for quite a while now.

| | Oh, yeah. Whole family watches. Of course, not since the playoffs have been on.

| | It actually got the girls to eat peas. They saw the episode 'Give Peas a Chance' and after that, peas were just fine on the menu.

| | Never seen it, but this is not the first forum I've been on that has mentioned it in the past few days. I'll have to check it out.

| | Lynn, even Jeremy might like it. It combines food history with chemistry with basic cooking techniques with silly humor. Kiki and Katie love the yeast puppets. (Shows you how crude my girls are). Kareem got hooked by accident. I had it on often enough that he sorta got sucked in. Now, he'll even ask to watch it if he sees an episode on the tivo list.

| | I watched about 5 minutes of it last night. It was...odd....a guy talking through a bbq and then they had some silly cook off that featured people with strainers on their heads.
Tell me it's better than that. I know I was depressed over the dog being sick, but even a glass of chardonnay didn't make me appreciate it very much.

| | It is. He is crazy, and a bit odd, but he talks about cooking and food from a scientific point of view. He has a few gimmicks, but I like to hear his input on the chemistry of how foods go together. He has a few amazing tips too. He is very entertaining. Not the usual cooking show.

| | It's my favorite show on the Food Network. Alton Brown sometimes does things differently than I would (his French onion soup recipe is a case in point), but he's always interesting, and more importantly he actually teaches you something. Too much of the programming on that channel today is simply food porn: you don't actually see how the food is cooked, but you get to look at scrumptious dishes and wish you were eating them. Alton's a refreshing counterpoint to that tendency. | | |
