| | I bought a Maytag washer/dryer set in Dec. 2002 which never worked, and when the washer finally stopped working this December I bought a new set. This time I got smart, bought from Sears, and got a Kenmore front loader. Because Consumer Reports said to.
A month ago, the dryer stopped working. It took them a week and a bit to get a guy out here. He looked at it and told me the motor was burned out. It came in three weeks later, and the tech was here today to replace it.
I just tried using it. It sounds like the dryer is grinding rocks and metal- a gawdawful sound. I am leaving tomorrow for Minneapolis. The customer service lady says it will be fixed by the time I get back home, but I am not in my Happy Place. |

| | That sucks. Hope they get it right this time. We bought a Whirlpool set a while back and love them. |

| | I bought the Whirlpool set too. I still love mine. A coworker bought the kenmore set. Her dryer just had an extended visit with the repairman. Fortunately the warranty on them is a long one.

| | It's quite possible that that Kenmore might have been manufactured for them by Maytag.
I buy a lot of appliances at Sears, but I always ask them who made the models I'm looking at before I buy. My washer/dryer is a Whirlpool. My refrigerator is Amana and my dishwasher is KitchenAid. Yet all of them have the Kenmore name on them.

| | It's amazing who makes the items. And surprising at the same time. It's a good sign of a salesman/woman if they can tell you who actually makes the products.

| | Sorry to hear about the trouble with your set. That really can put you in a mood when things are not working right.

| | This set is the Whirlpool one, and right up until it broke, I just loved it. I'd still love it if it only worked. |

| | Oops, I'd forgotten about this. The service guy came while I was gone and fixed it. He said i had lint stuck in the trap- but it took nearly 1 1/2 hours to fix it, and the metallic clanging sound disappeared. I know there was no lint in it- I'm paranoid about lint fires in dryers- but I don't know what was really wrong. However, it's working again. |

| | That's good that you didn't have to buy a new one!
