I think she would be able to pull off the world building thing better if she weren't self-limiting herself to 7 books, no more, no less. If she had decided to tell 7 years' worth of stories in however many books it took to tell the story, it would be different. Some of us like world-building.
It's not the world building that's the problem. Having a well-thought-out world is a boon to an author.
My problem is that those 5 pages in the first chapter are truly superfluous. I almost feel like she's added them for the movie script writers to head off any attempt that they might envision things differently. For goodness sake, reading is as much of a creative process as writing is.
