Why is it that I only hear this junk is from people who don't use Windows? But put aside the ignorance of comparing something when you only use one, what is it about the personality of Mac users that requires them to have your self-esteem re-enforced by your choice of an operating system? It's pathetic.
1. I do use Windows. And Linux.
2. I think it's a slam on Apple as much as on Windows. No options available. You get what you get with Apple. Tradeoffs of the platform clearly illustrated in the cartoon

My husband and middle son have Macs. They use them extensively for photo and video applications. Mac is hard to beat for that. My oldest son spent a year working Mac telephone tech support. He owns 2 computers -- both Windows. Both purchased AFTER the tech support gig. There are advantages to both - as Amy said. I have the best of both worlds. My computer desk sits right next to my husbands, so I can use the platform that best supports what I'm doing.
My mom has a macbook. Nothing makes me feel as stupid as that does when I double click, double click, double click again and can't make it "press the button." I think if the mouse on the laptop worked right I could give the thing a fair chance.
