The Idiots Primer on Geonome at Home

I'm totally in the dark, here. I haven't paid attention to the Geonome at Home project because it wasn't available for Macs until recently.

I just downloaded the Mac OSX client, joined the right team (Thanks, Amy!) and am running it.

Now, can somebody tell me what the heck it is I'm running?

How does the team thing work? And why am I loading and benchmarking and my progress is 0.0%? What am I progressing?

I swear I tried making my way through the huge thread to figure out what is going on....you don't have to answer all my questions, an idiot's primer will do me. (Have to explain to Don what the heck this thing is I'm running on "his"

computer)

And I’m still running Mac OS 9.0.4. Is that a stone age relic or is there any way that I can sign up?

Looks to me like OS X or nothing, sorry Erik.

From what I've seen everywhere, anything less than X is being left out. The bright side is, people who weren't writing for Mac are taking the time to write for X.
