Me again.
Just a reminder. The Red Cross is still accepting donations for hurricane relief.
Charley did a scary amount of damage. Francis added insult to injury. While my area got through the storm without too much damage, further North didn't do so well. My niece's uncle lost his roof and his house in un-liveable. Many of the people who got hit by Charley got hit again by Francis. They are all facing double deductables on their insurance policies. Many people are still without power. They announced that some people without phone service won't have phones for 3 weeks.
It's awfully hot and lots of folks have no A/C. It's very difficult to buy ice. Gas is still scarce in many areas. Traffic lights are down all over S. Florida and because our drivers suck there have been many accidents.
To make matters worse, Florida now has to deal with the possiblility of Ivan - a monster category 5 storm, heading this way.
Thank the Lord my home and my family is fine. Thank the Lord my neighbors are fine, though I do have some friends who still lost power. I dontated at my supermarket. If any of you can donate - even just $1 each - it helps. It adds up. Central Florida needs out help, and if Ivan hits.....well, I can't really let myself think about that yet - it's just too scary.
Don't give beyond your means, but if you can give, please do. And if you can't, just say something nice to a stranger today. Everyone has stress in their lives, and a kind word from a stranger can be the best charity of all.
