Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It's that time of year again... Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I'm sure that most of you aren't aware that my mother is a breast cancer survivor, and so is my aunt.

My friend lost his mom last year to breast cancer, and I have two other friends whose moms are currently undergoing treatment.

Every year, my mom and I walk in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk here in our town. It's a 5K, no race or anything, just whole bunches of survivors and supporters walking together to raise money and awareness.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring me, I'm available for pledging via PM and I can send you the information. All donations are taking through the American Cancer Society web site and are 100% tax deductible.

Anyone interested in walking in an event in their area? I can send you information on how to find one there too.

This is also a friendly reminder to schedule your annuals, do your monthly self exams, and, for those of you "at that age" schedule your mammograms.

Re:(1)Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Thanks for the reminder. I had just gotten a letter in the mail reminding me of my mammo (I thought it was due in December, but no! October!) so I need to call today to make an appointment.

I was unable to walk in the Komen walk here due to work this last weekend. Good luck on your walk!!!

Re: (2) Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Thanks for the reminder! I need to schedule hubby and myself for the Komen walk, which should be in a couple of weeks.

Re: (2) Breast Cancer Awareness Month

You can also find a breast cancer donation click at:

www.care2.com

They have a whole click to donate section, primarily for environmental causes, but including breast cancer as well.
