Extra, Extra! Read all about it!

WillardRules just joined Epinions yesterday and posted his first epinion today.

In my perhaps self-important opinion, it is a polished and articulate discussion of the recent book "Balsamic Dreams: A Short but Self-Important History of the Baby Boomer Generation".

It is also, I would contend, a book review clearly worthy of a VH rating. I was puzzled, therefore, to find it receiving 100% H ratings until I added my own VH rating. I don't usually find myself in the position of rating over the majority, much less the entirety, of the existing ratings, but there was no question in mind that the VH was well-deserved.

I invite everyone to go check this guy out and decide for yourself whether I'm a rubberstamper -- or simply more discerning than the pack.

theeye rules, too!

Nice catch, Eye! What a great review. Unfortunately, my rating made no difference at all, but I did agree with you. Honestly, I can't imagine what on earth the other raters could have been thinking. That guys is an awesome writer, and I can't wait to read his next review.

Cindy

P.S. Why not go and leave a note about EA in his comments section? He'd be a great addition to our merry band, IMO.

Yes, he does! I just checked. I think it must have been just a temporary Epinions glitch. (Whew ... you scared me. Another possible explanation would have left me very embarrassed indeed.)

Try again.

Thanks for the suggestion, eye. I'll go read his piece today.

But I'm confused. Didn't someone already write the definitive review of Balsamic Dreams?

Peter,
who wrote a review of the book that he used to think was definitive

Indeed, someone else did write an absolutely brilliant review of Balsamic Dreams, which I very strongly recommend. Its insightful critique of the subtitle alone is worth the price of admission.

Willard's review is quite different -- but that's the beauty of Epinions. I'm quite happy to VH both reviews.

I yield

Now that I've read it, I realize that his review is more complete than mine.

However, I can still claim that I've written the definitive review not recommending the book.

Peter,
who expects his claim to that title might evaporate as well

Definitive, shminitive. I'm just delighted to see that there are two reviews of this book, one positive and one negative, and they are both reviews I could honestly point a friend towards as proof that Epinions is a genuinely valuable resource.

(edited to correct my misspelling of "shminitive". )

Just visited. His posting did not appear due to the 'recent changes are not currently reflected' thingy-majiggy-glitch.
