It *is* an interesting article. I just wish there were more websites that allowed more Joe Shmoe input.
As imperfect as the concept of Epinions.com is, at least you know you're getting input - mostly - from ordinary folks who actually use the product they're reviewing. (Occasionally, in the movie reviews in particular, you'll see someone who takes a more standard movie-reviewer tack on what he sees, and yes, they're almost all men who do that. They give me the impression that they got special movie-reviewer passes to go to the movie, because they have almost no concept of what people with families, or grandmothers or machinists might want in a movie. But most of the movie reviews are from real people who paid eight to ten dollars for a ticket, or $20 for the DVD, and saw it that way.)
