A new special characters bug?

Has anyone noticed that special characters such as umlauts no longer appear to be displaying correctly?

I never had a problem getting these to display before, but recently it appears some programming change has been made. Words like cliché are no longer displaying properly in old reviews. I came across this when I submitted my latest Epinion and noticed the site's editor choked on the name Pedro Almodóvar.

I got this to work by using HTML coding, but when I checked another Epinion written some time ago, I noticed it wasn't being displayed correctly (this was not the case, I'm positive, when the Epinion was originally submitted).

I'm not the only one either. A number of other users now appear to have the same problem with previously-submitted Epinions.

Has someone submitted a bug report? Should I do it?

-William

Re:(1)A new special characters bug?

I would say, "Yes." Usually when something like this has changed and the reviewers didn't do it...then usually some bug is to blame.

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

Re:(1)A new special characters bug?

I'm noticing that all my reviews that use ASCII codes for things like temperature degree signs, which is a lot of them because I do a lot of kitchen-stuff reviews, come out with an A topped by a tiny zero between the number and the degree. And if I use an ASCII code for a fraction, which also happens a lot, the same thing happens. So my reviews are now peppered with these stupid hieroglyphics, and no matter how many times I go in and remove them, they come back.

Is there a way of using those marks without using ASCII? That seems to be triggering some sort of knee-jerk (with emphasis on the "jerk") response in the system.
