I understand a little bitterness about not getting a reward this time (although you may have simply been overlooked and it's worth an email to find out), but to color the process as a "disaster" sounds like sour grapes and nothing at all like the Tom I know.
No bitterness here. I am sure I was not 'overlooked' based on Ander's recap of his experience a year ago. And I certainly did not qualify as a TR.

Perhaps disaster was too strong of a word.

I do have an odd taste in my mouth . . .but it has nothing to do with 'sour grapes' or the mis-managed ( perhaps a better characterization...? ) TR gift program.

Thanks for the polite . . .'reminder'.

Hmmm... I didn't really exactly recap it (so I suppose maybe I should) Last year they gave out extra cash for people that had been Advisors (and maybe TR's--I'm not sure) during the year. I'd been an Advisor for the first couple of months of last year so according to what they'd said in the announcement I qualified... Perhaps... Maybe I e-mailed the guy supposedly in charge of that stuff and he never got back to me. I suppose I could have followed up a bit more but... Shrug. (I didn't)

I think the present thing is neat personally. Cool stuff and I think they should do more stuff like that more often (personally I think they should pay TR's per hit again since TR's are really their bread and butter). I'm not particularly jealous (er... Make that not jealous at all:p) or anything of that sort and honestly I'm only a little miffed about last year's stuff.

The only thing I think is goofy about the bonus thing is the fact that they didn't reward people according to their categories. I'd grant you the fact that many categories wouldn't exactly get big cool prizes though (and many would be tough to reward) but it still seems a bit goofy that they give people things to review that they haven't ever reviewed before (and haven't shown any particular expertise in them).

Still, I think it is cool.

So the computer guy gets a Dell, the auto guy gets who knows what and as a TR in Books, I get the latest and greatest by John Grisham? No thanks.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Like I said it just seems a bit goofy:P For the lower-priced categories it would seem like they could just give you a gift certificate or something like that...
I s'pose that everyone does use electronics though. Personally I've historically dreaded reading reviews from the category (except by selected reviewers) which is why I pretty much only read stuff from Movies right now.

I suspect that the electronics nuts might not appreciate the model they get though (no clue) so they might have the same problem you would have with the Grisham novel

:p I wasn't saying anything against the reviews. Honestly I haven't even read any of them. I don't read electronics reviews generally. I suspect the new reviews will be a lot more fun (and informative) than some of the ones I've seen by the TR's in the category though (which tend to be technically over my head or cut and paste extravaganzas--at least as of a few years back when I tried reading them).

Still are. I actually do more electronics than CH stuff, but not for lack of knowledge. I just can't be bothered with the cut-and-paste fakers.

Wait . . .word from corporate/Brisbane says that it is actually a 1986 Yugo . . .that has to be passed from auto TR to auto TR over the next eleven months.

And they'll decide next December whether to ever do it again or not.

Sorry for the confusion.

Floorboards intact, yes or no? If no, I'm going to be REALLY pissed if they don't supply me with enough cardboard to get through a winter month.

Didn't we blow up the plant while we were making the world safe for democracy again?

Well . . .apparently 'NATO' did that, to some degree.

While googling 'Yugo production years' I stopped to read a brief history of the car and its production history.

A world 'safe for democracy' is important . . .no matter who (or how many) has to die . . .including auto plants.

You know what? I don't want a Yugo. I want a DeLorean. Someone find me that.

I wouldn't mind another 1988 Dodge Diplomat. My review of that car netted a 300 percent profit over what I paid for the car.
