Prepare for the ColdWater Challenge!

"Tide® Coldwater and the Alliance to Save Energy (www.ase.org), one of the world's premiere energy efficiency organizations, have issued the joint ColdWater Challenge to encourage up to one million consumers to wash their laundry in cold water to save money and energy. Tide Coldwater will do its part by donating $100,000 to the National Fuel Funds Network, an organization that assists state and local groups that help low-income families pay their energy bills."

The Coldwater Challenge site is up and running at: www.coldwaterchallenge.com.

Hi Everyone:

With Epinions’ permission, I’d like to offer a personal challenge to all Epinions members. It’s rare when we have a chance to make a difference in many lives with just a few clicks of a mouse. Proctor & Gamble's launch of their new ColdWater laundry product added to their partnering with the ASE organization gives us all the opportunity to help qualifying low income families (living in our communities) meet the high cost of energy bills.

Tide is giving away free samples of new Tide Coldwater at www.coldwaterchallenge.com to help consumers take the plunge. By accepting their offer of a free sample, we agree to help save resources by doing our laundry in cold water. According to documentation, “…switching to washing in cold water can save up to $63 a year or as much as 692 kWh, or 6.9 million BTUs." For each one of us signing up, P&G will donate a portion of the funds they allotted for this project to a local chapter of the National Fuel Funds Network – that means the funds will go to a chapter that is local to us!

Most online denizens are fortunate enough to not have much difficulty paying utility bills but, according to Tide’s web site, that's not true for nearly the nearly "thirty million American households that cannot afford fully to heat or cool their homes." Unfortunately, those who will benefit most by this Challenge probably do not have the opportunity to go online and take their place on the ColdWater Challenge map.

"The majority of the donation from Tide will be divided among selected NFFN members in different regions of the country. These areas qualifying for fuel funds will receive a proportion of the donation based on the amount of people in each region signing-up for the challenge. Check out the challenge at www.coldwaterchallenge.com."

To take part in the Challenge, go to the Tide ColdWater site and sign up for a free sample. After you successfully complete your registration, the map will load and you’ll see your name next to a red dot. You can return to that page any time you want to see how many others in your area have met the challenge.

As part of the consumer education focus of the campaign, the Alliance is offering no-cost/low-cost energy tips:

For those who sign up and would like to review Tide Coldwater detergent, the Epinions listing is:

Please help spread the word by posting a notice about the ColdWater Challenge on your message boards and share these links with your family and friends.

Thank you!

Helen
