on a book review I wrote in 2000. It was one I actually got a VH on as my book reviews usually sucked. Apparently the review has content about a person

The Epinions site usage policy prohibits members from including contact or personal information about another individual without their permission. Content that you submitted to Epinions violates this policy.

This is a review of the Guiness Book of World Records from 2000. I mention in one line one of the "facts" of the book. Since that is the only part that mentions the actual persons name it must be the part that someone ticketed. I'm not sure how that is actually offensive because it is first mentioned in the book, not by me!

Gee, you'd have thought somone would have caught that oh, 7 years ago! I'd link to it but my account is hidden.

I hardly remember writing the review and was quite surprised at how I actually enjoyed reading it again!

Margo, I'd guess you are probably getting caught up in what we are calling "Privacy" issues at work (from what you are describing). Private indentification information (name, address, phone numbers, soc # for example) are protected information. I would guess that eps has taken up a policy similar.

If you want to, I would remove that info and send a note to the PTB at eps and explain that you've removed the protected information. Because the review was written back before a lot of this type of policy came about, I'm guessing they'll restore your account.

I actually looked in my junk mail account and found a very old email about the person who I named requesting epinions have me remove his name but I just deleted it without looking at it.

Why would Epinions use my epinions public profile address instead of my account one. When they ticketed me I got the email in my official email. Weird.

I removed two names out of it and just sent them back a note. Apparently Guiness has this guys height wrong and he must not like being described inaccurately!

But wait... Guiness doesn't just drive around looking for people to put in their books, so he must have submitted his name at some point (seeking the attention) and now gets you ticketed because you quote the fact pertaining to him from the book in your review? Oy.
