Power Outage on Epinions

From Epinions Staff to all of us:

Epinions is currently recovering from a massive power outage that hit portions of San Francisco today.

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/07/24/BAG9NR67253.DTL&tsp=1

Our primary data center was affected and systems are coming back online now. Several systems may be slow to recover from this abrupt and complete disruption. The Epinions site may be subject to extended periods of read-only-mode or slower-than-usual response times. Our Engineering and Operations teams are working to minimize these impacts and restore full service ASAP. However be prepared for the possibility of an extremely long read-only time or other significant interruption to our routine.

Please help us get the message out as we are currently unable to update the site with current info. You are welcome to forward this message.

We will remain in touch as the situation develops.

Thanks!

The Epinions Team

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

Re Power Outage on Epinions

Just for the record, I want to know why such a HUGE datacenter didn't have back-up power. EVERYTHING was down... Eps... Epinions, Technorati... It's insane to run that kind of datacenter and be taken down by a power outage.
