I have money in my account

I got a rating notification today. I haven't contributed in five years, so, I'm not surprised that it happens so infrequently.

What does surprise me is the money in my account. I thought that if members are rarely reading my reviews now, that would mean barely anyone is reading them now. It always surprises me to log in and say "ooh, I can actually buy something with that."

Is epinions just paying better now than it was five years ago, or is it more likely that the gods of google are just sending random page views my way?

I never earned any real money on the site, but the pennies do add up every month.

In the heyday of Epinions, when I was writing about 5 reviews a week, I was getting paid a lot more than I am now. But really, when I look at the time I spent there then compared to the time I spend there now, I'm probably getting about the same economic benefit, hour for hour....

At this point I write perhaps a half-dozen reviews a year, and I'm an advisor in one small category.....

And, if I look at the time I spend, I probably make about the minimum wage per month for my efforts. Maybe even slightly more....
