The importance of being earnest

The Horsemen are all nearly beside themselves at the thought of being in a real live wedding. They all get to be ushers, and wear real tuxedos, and have flowers, and all the really cool wedding-y stuff.

#4 especially has been bouncing off the walls about it. H was running back and forth through the living room yesterday, singing a little song: "I'm going to be an usher, hummm hmm hmm, I'm going to be an usher, hummm, hmm hmm" etc. For like, three hundred hours in a row.

And then, he came up to me and said,"Mama, I am so excited! I get to be an usher. But, how do you ush?"

I am going to heaven when I die, because I did not laugh. I almost imploded, but that's what moms do. I managed to say,"It's actually quite complicated, and GAry will tell you all about it when he coems over tonight."

By the time Gary had put the better part of a bottle of white out of its misery, he thought this was pretty darned funny. Come to think of it, I still think that learning how to ush would be a really cool thing to do.

You blew it Cindy. I would have told him it was really called a husher with a silent H. I would have him walking around telling people to "hush". But then I might lose my standing with him too!
