| | Ever since I got my brain injury, the tooth fairy can sometimes be really forgetful. The two youngest know, for example, that if they lose a tooth after 3 p.m., if the tooth fairy doesn't come by that night, it was because there were too many other children whose teeth fell out earlier in the day, so my children get pushed onto the next day's list.
Unfortunately, last week she forgot two nights in a row. #4 was very indignant. He asked to be taken to the bank. Because, he said, he needed to open a bank account of his very own.
I asked why he needed his own account. After all, the kid only gets $4 a month in allowance.
"Well," he said,"I want my own account so I can get a checkbook!"
Hmm. I'm not even sure if a person can write a check for a dollar, the sum total of his life savings at the moment.
"Why do you need a checkbook?" I asked.
"Because," he said,"I can leave a check under my pillow. The tooth fairy can then use direct deposit to give me my money, and so she won't have to bother stopping by anymore."
I almost managed not to laugh in front of him. Almost. |

| | I hate the tooth fairy. I think he has a good plan.

| | Oh, she remembered last night. And got busted this morning. I got caught, see putting the money under his pillow.
"Why are you trying to steal the money the tooth fairy left for me?" he asked indignantly.
"Um, I was hoping you'd let me borrow it for parking today, "I said hopefully.
"Well, you will just have to stop by the bank machine. You can't just go around stealing money while people are sleeping!"
How is it that the child who won't wake up even for pancakes can be up and hyper-aware if there's money under his pillow? Sigh. A mom can't win. |

| | When I forgot Devon's tooth, I found him the next morning sobbing quietly under his blankets. I'd much rather he asked for direct deposit. (A heck of an idea, I must say!)

| | I shudder to think of the world when #4 is grown. He CAN"T grow up. It's not FAIR.
Besides, the job he will have doesn't exist yet. Can't even be contemplated. He has lots of years yet in which to design his empire. And #3 is training to be his historian. #2 will be his right hand man, and #1 his bodyguard.
Beware, world. But you'll LOVE it.

| | LOL! If he does that, can he live at your house? You can come and visit me at my (really reallyquiet) house. You'll know it's my house when you see the walk-in wine cabinet. |

| | Sure he can live with me, but I know I won't be able to chronicle his exploits half as well as you do!
And expect me when you see me. I have a passport, and I'm not afraid to use it.
