| | ...cat is named Annabelle. You thought this was going to be about his truck, am I right?
He lost the bid on the truck by $25, luckily for us. The insurance was starting to give me nightmares, so it's just as well. When he called me to tell me about the truck, I wanted to know who his girlfriend was, since I had received a short post card about someone named Annabelle. I was going to object to her on two general principles:
1. You hadn't ought to tell your mother that Annabelle is sleeping in your bed, and more important,
2. You hadn't ought to make Annabelle sleep on your feet.
Luckily I didn't have to have that conversation with him, because Annabelle has ear mites. We discovered this in the letter which followed. Unfortunately, we discovered this just as Chip was fixing to eat breakfast, and for some reason the clever ways in which #1 cured intestinal worms and then green lung mucous didn't fascinate Chip the way I thought it would. I guess some people just aren't as into animals as #1 and I are.
Anyhow, Annabelle was found under a rock wall, too weak to meow. She has scars of bite marks on her, and she couldn't open her eyes because they were infected. In other words, it was love at first sight. Annabelle is white with one black ear and one orange one. She is also in charge of #1's bunkhouse. I am hoping that she gets to move to Louisiana in the fall to attend university with one of the wranglers (whom I suspect of being the real object of #1's affections ). However, said wrangler is not sure she can keep her. If she can't, the choices are to turn Annabelle loose for a quick and tasty snack for the coyotes, take her to a vet to have her euthanized, or...well, put it this way - I'll need five of something else if the cat population increases by 1.
Other than tending to stray ladies both human and feline, #1 seems to be doing well. He found the camp flower all by himself, too. The camp he works in is named after a type of cactus flower, but about 4 years ago a fire wiped out the entire area and the directors thought that this flower was still waiting to regrow. #1 slid off a trail while out running, rolled ass over teakettle all the way down the hill and landed in a bed of these cacti - but he did make the first official sighting of the flower, so he's a happy kid. |

| | Well, if one of the hermit crabs should happen to kick the bucket, you'll be settled on that score.

Have I mentioned lately how absolutely adorable my little crabbies are? They are sooooo cute with those little black googly eyes. I will have to work on a different 5 if Annabelle comes to live with us. What on earth we'll do if any of the other boys turns out to be like me is anybody's guess. |

| | Not exactly - two of each unclean animal and seven of the clean ones. Or something like that. So, if I start collecting sheep, I'm still good. |

Well, yes. I'm just picturing Cindy's yard filled with animals that they drag home.
