#1 started hinting that a new MP3 player would not go unappreciated. I was annoyed, because I bought one for him to take to Philmont this summer, and I assumed that he just wanted one with more memory. When woot finally sold a 1G MP3, I bought one for him, and he was delighted.

As he was loading it last night, I asked him if I could have his old one, and he suddenly looked distracted. When I asked again, he finally told me that I couldn't have it, and explained why.



First, though, please answer the following question:


Q: What is the difference between an MP3 player and a Tilley hat?




Who knows the answer? Anyone?




A: The Tilley hat can travel through the digestive tract of a large animal and emerge at the other end still fully functional. An MP3 player cannot. Or so I am told.

Apparently, #1's MP3 player fell out of his pocket while he was grooming one of the horses this summer, and the horse grabbed at it and swallowed it before he could get it out of the animal's mouth. He says he did manage to pull out part of the earphones.

He and the other wranglers kept an eye out for the missing MP3 player, but it hadn't shown up by the time he came home. I just hope that horse likes Alan Jackson.

Well, the Tilley hat company's first advert was the one about the zookeeper's hat which was swallowed by an elephant and then returned. The man apparetnly washed it and used it.

Tilley rocks. I've worn one for years. Not so much these last few months, but they're great when you're on the water and in the rain.
