Yep, I said 'doggies', not 'dogies'. And we all know which doggies these are. #1 got a lariat for a gift. And obviously, the only thing to do with a lariat is to rope something. And, since I immediately forbade him to rope his brothers, the dogs were clearly the best choice.
Libby is not stupid, and she took one look at the rope whirling over #1's head, growled and stalked back into the house. Dixie, however, has the ability to look at anything and interpret it as potentially fun, and so she wagged wildly and barked. And let #1 rope her over and over again. Ok, so he had sausage, which also didn't make the activity any less fun in Dixie's eyes. Still, several times yesterday she went and barked at the lariat to make #1 take her outside and lasso her. She loves that sausage! ...Good vittles, love, and kissin',
Are waiting at the end of my ride...
After a while, #1 decided to teach the dogs some cowboy tricks, and this time Libs was interested. However, he took Dixie first, along with another handful of sausage and his rope. He coiled it into a large loop, held it up and waved a sausage on the other side, intending to get Dixie to leap through the hoop. Dixie wagged happily then ran under the rope, gobbled the sausage and grinned. This was definintely her idea of a great game. Finally after placin g the lariat on the ground, Dixie learned to walk through it. After a few minutes, she would carefully pick her way over the lariat if he held it about 4 inches of the ground- but she'd place one foot carefully through the loop before gingerly placing her next foot through.
Libs was scratching on the door and yipping- she also wanted to learn to be a cowdog. Finally it was her turn. As soon as #1 held the coiled rope up to show her, she leapt into the air and flew through the loop! No matter how high he held the rope, Libs managed to jump through it, even without sausage. Then, #1 got the bright idea to tie the rope onto my clothesline so that the loop was about two feet off the ground, and Libs immediately jumped through. Then, he spun the clothesline (mine is round, looks sort of like a TV antenna gone horribly wrong) and was fixing to show Libs how to jump - when she did! He kept it spinning, and she would crouch down, stare hard at the loop and every time it whirled past she'd jump straight through it! She is such a smart girl. Luckily for her, since she has to stay on her toes around here. I've already told #1 that the only cowboy trick he is allowed to teach the dogs is the rope-jumping trick. Libs does not approve of cows, horses or pickup trucks. ...Don't try to understand 'em,
Just rope an' throw an' brand 'em...
Now, I can't wait to see if the dogs will enjoy the unicycle... |

| | Re Rollin', rollin', rollin'... | | I had to sit here for about five minutes alternately gaping, laughing, and peeing.
I blame the country music you subjected the boy to. Did #2 get any good CDs for Chrismahanukwanzaakah? |

| | Re Rollin', rollin', rollin'... | | AFV gives out cash prizes though. I'm sure Cindy and the Horsemen could do with an extra $10,000!
But yes, please host it somewhere where we can see it before it shows up on AFV! |

| | Re Rollin', rollin', rollin'... | | Here's another video challenge for the four horsemen. I think they'd be able to come up with something creative! Pepto Star: Enter the Pepto Star Video Contest
Will put that new camera to good use and could pay for some books for college or something | | |
