| | Here's what's going on and why nobody is here.
A while back, I received an email telling me it was time to update the domain. I clicked the link in the email and tried to sign in. No dice. I requested my password. It didn't recognize me.
I contacted tech support. The company told me that they had been sold and somebody else was in charge of handling our domain now.
The emails kept coming from the same company that SAID they didn't control us anymore. I eventually gave up on registering through them and asked our host to transfer the domain to a different registrar.
I paid the host and he put in our transfer request.
The company that said they don't have us anymore didn't process the transfer request. The domain is now locked and expired. The company says I have to pay to renew the domain through them because it's expired. I can't do that. I already paid the other guy and let's just say Bob isn't very pro EA at the moment.
So, I am fighting right now to try to get this resolved. Hopefully, it will be soon.
Until then, pass the word about the hosts file trick to your friends.
Amy

| | Re When it rains it pours | | we may be making progress. I've moved up a level in the beurocracy. Data393 admitted on the phone that this is their fault, but they still want me to pay again. I've moved up past them and contacted the place data393 registered to domain through.
Customer service told me to email them using the account that I registered the domain with and I should get a response in 24 hours.
Cross your fingers.

| | Re When it rains it pours | | I actually had this problem back in the day with Network Solutions. I probably shouldn't tell you I lost my domain to a porn site.
This is why I pay the money for register.com. Less stress. |

| | Re When it rains it pours | | I used the original company for years. It was just when they were bought out that I started having problems. I THINK it may be getting resolved. My last peek at the whois indicates that it's locked but that the expiration date is next year. Dunno. They haven't emailed me back yet.

| | Re When it rains it pours | | Amy,
Brian wanted me to ask if there is a fix for Firefox users.
He fixed my computer so I could get in, but it doesn't work for him. |

| | Re When it rains it pours | | I'm on my work machine which does NOT have the HOSTS file stuff added... does that mean I may find myself in an alternate universe soon? If so, which will be the wrong one - the work one or the home one?

| | Re When it rains it pours | | Yep, but I didn't try.
Today at work I managed to fix my work PC.
I'm not stupid! Why would I spend 5 minutes doing something that Brian can do in 30 seconds????? | |
