| | I know at least a couple of folks here love dance. If so, what kind(s) do you do?
I started out with swing a few years back (when I was literally dragged onto the dance floor), and have gotten into the Latin dances this year. A friend of mine -- the one responsible for my getting into salsa -- wants to me to try a hip-hop class, though her tales of dislocated shoulders and bruised knees give me second thoughts.

| | I love dancing! I just wish I could do it more often.
I started out with two-step and moved on to other country dances: cowboy cha-cha, El Paso, old man's two-step, polka, "Okinawa triple step," East coast swing, West coast swing, waltz, schottishe (including "the barn dance"), and a few lines dances (though those are kind of boring). Edited to add: And Oklahoma swing.
I moved on to ballroom: tango, cha-cha, waltz again.
And then picked up some Latin dances: merenge, Tex-Mex, bachata, cumbia, and salsa.
Of course, my skill level at some of these is better than at others.

| | Before our wedding, MrWorm and I took dance lessons. We loved it, and continued well after the wedding until our dance school closed. We were awful, but we sure had fun. We did swing, foxtrot, waltz, salsa, rumba and cha-cha. We'ld love to start up again, but there doesn't seem to be any convenient place to take lessons. |

| | Tap dance all the way!
Besides that, I briefly got into swing in college, and also took a summer session of ballet once.
But tap rules my dance world.

| | I took ballet for about six months when I lived on Oki (the teacher's husband was assigned back to the States so that ended...). I loved ballet, not because it looks pretty (and I was pretty bad at it), but because it was such a great work out. I developed muscles I didn't even know I had.

| Moved on to the Texas kicker stuff like Naomi said.
And just dancing.

| | As much of a disgrace as I am to the art of ballet, I absolutely love it. It's kicking my patoot this year as I'm taking two classes weekly for a total of 2 1/2 hours of instruction, and I'm a caroler in our studio's annual performance of the Nutrcracker this December. I'm taking an intermediate adult ballet class as well as a pre-pointe class, so I could very well don pointe shoes by the time I'm 30 (I have 1 1/2 years left until I hit that milestone).
I can definitely see some changes in my lower body. My legs are toned, and my duff is as firm as it's been in ages. Too bad I haven't found a vanishing move for this panty flap that's been plaguing me for a couple of years now. I think that a few pounds worth of weight loss should take care of that.

| | Square dancing. I'm hopeless on the dance floor if any improvisation is required. I like doing exactly what the caller tells me to do.
