To anyone who realizes I might be fibbing a little, Shhh! Don't tell Worm! We don't need her to be scared!
| A tiny worm is no match for a giant mean venomous snake! Yikes!
Ok - I guess that I survived! No more camping with snakes, Lynn! Please!
Well, I haven't given my mileage to Lynn in several days because I was away, but I did rake in some good stepping, so I'll be making a big contribution tomorrow morning! We should be at Slick's place pretty soon! Pookey is still there, right? |

| | Actually, Lynn's been rather remiss in posting where we've been over the holiday weekend. I'll be back on track tomorrow. We're doing pretty darned well.

| | 838.1 miles down the road brings us to.... | | ....about 12 miles northwest of Springdale, Nevada.
We're right by the Tonopah Test Range, which is not as top secret as Area 14 (or is it )...there is a very high security area called Site Four , that's rumoured to have aliens....but.....
Maybe Naomi can fill us in.
I also found an interesting site that we've passed called Mud Lake, NV where a pilot named Jack McKay crashed his plane in the early 1960's. Kinda cool history. Here's a picture of Jack's fated plane.
Ouch.
We're only about 140 miles from Lost Wages....so step it up today and tomorrow, and we should be there yet this week!

| | Well, we have had some good eats along the way! Amy made that great Tofu, and I know that Slick is heating up the barbique! Still - I didn't expect to have to sleep with snakes and crickets, and speaking of eats - what the heck did we eat that night! I don't eat crickets. I'm going to that site Melanie found for me to order some of that Veggie Jerky! That's easy to carry and tasty - much better than crispy cricket! |

| | I just ordered the Vegetarian Jerky! Darned - I didn't see a clicky thing for express delivery!
So, Lynn - how many points are a chocolate covered cricket? You can have mine - this is starting to sound like a bad episode (are there any good ones?) of Fear Factory. Sleep with the snakes, eat crickets - what's next? |

| | According to this site , 100g of crickets are 3 points. Quote: |
The dietary composition of one of the more popular insects, crickets is great for those weight conscious individuals. 100 grams of cricket contains 121 calories, 12.9 grams of protein, 5.5 g. of fat, 5.1 g. of carbohydrates, 75.8 mg. calcium, and 9.5 mg of iron. Compare this with ground beef, which although it contains 23.5 g of protein also has 288.2 calories and a whopping 21.2 grams of fat. YUMMY, crickets, all that flavor and good for you too!
| Teach you for asking.

| | Hum - doesn't say anything about fiber. Assuming 0 fiber (they must have some - they're crunchy, right) 100 grams of cricket would be only 3 WW points - could be a bit less with crunch factor!
You can have my crickets, and something tells me Ailsa will give you hers as well. Lynn - looks like you can eat well AND reach your weight goal really quickly. Of course, you have to eat the plain crickets - not the chocolate covered ones - with chocolate - you're looking at a lot more points!
Ailsa - if you're interested, I'll share my veggie jerky! |

| | I'm not eating any crickets.
The Tonopah Test Site is mostly used by the Air Force for their supersonic missions and target practice and the like. If I recall my geography correctly, we're in the same area as the Toyabe Forest, though I use the term "forest" loosely. I don't know anything about Site 4, but it's probably for testing new equipment/bombs, that have top secret security designation. I've never seen any aliens. Besides, haven't you noticed that the number of alien sightings has decreased with the rise in cam-corders?

| | Still crusing along the Nevada Test Site... | | But we've come all the way down to Amargosa Valley, NV...887 miles along our journey!
Now, if anyone wants to go home, they can use the Jackass Airport to catch a plane. The name just caught my eye.
We are passing right by the Amargosa Desert, which actually looks like it's real close to Death Valley (Twighlight Zone music starts up). It looks pretty, but hot and dry.
I hope we find a swimming pool soon!

| | We'll be needing that pool to decontaminate after walking through a low-level radiation site. I hope everyone packed their radiation suit.

| | Gonna buy me a Mercury.... | | Mercury, Nevada, that is.
We're 915 miles down the road from Sweet Home, and the desert and nuclear test facilities just won't get behind us! I'm anxious to get out of Nevada, I think some of the crowd is starting to positively glow.
Anyone know this guy? He's not one of our team members in disguise is he? Those darned protesters.
Well, let's keep tromping on, gals. Vegas awaits....only about 60 more miles to go!

| | Who is that man, and why is he looking at you like that, Lynn????
Is he one of those "save the cricket" sorts?
At the rate we're going, do we have a shot at New Years in Orlando? I'm beginning to think that we'll be in New Orleans on New Years and in Orlando looking for Prince Charming on Valentine's Day. |

| | Well, we didn't get too far since yesterday (AHEM....some of you need a reminder to send me your miles/steps), but we've come a total of 939.5 miles and are about 10 miles southeast of Indian Springs.
Along the way, we passed by this: Quote: |
Located in the Nevada desert about an hour out of Las Vegas is this very special place known as The Goddess Temple. It was completely built by women from all religious beliefs and shows that all aspects of Goddess from all cultures can co-exist and be worshiped together or separately as they are all One and we are one with Them.
| Hmm....now there's something to contemplate while you're walking across the desert. Cindy J., where's our stash of Gatorade, by the way?
The only thing I know about Indian Springs (and there is not much out on the web) is that it's mentioned in one of my favorite books The Stand as a site that Trashcan Man ("my life for you...") goes to and picks up a little something for Randall Flagg.
Okay, that's probably more than you non-King freaks need to know.
Keep trucking ladies....and I'll be sending out reminders to those who've been REALLY remiss in sending in their miles so we can get back on track again. That is, unless they PM me first.
Lynn
