| | Where's your Good Stuff? Weekend H&F Fun! 1/18 - 1/19 | | Late start today, but I guess I'm not the only one!
It's cold and windy here today, but I'm going shopping and am going to replace my resistance bands that broke. Then I'll do them and girly weights later on.
Have a great weekend!

| | I just woke up after sleeping 11 hours!!! I haven't done that in a long time. Guess I needed sleep!
Don't really have a plan for today. We'll see what I end up doing.

| | Just got back from meeting a friend for breakfast. Went to Borders and chatted over coffee. Even treated myself to a bagel!
Then we listened to music and I bought myself a belly dancing exercise video! That should be interesting, if not fun! |

| | Got my new resistance bands and a jump rope! I tried it out and fell on my face.
It does say that it helps you to build balance. Whodda thunk such a simple childhood toy would have a purpose?!

| | I went shopping today...
I bought a new blender, new vcr, new undergarments (lmao), new socks (don't want a repeat of yesterday, lol), 8lb weights, new exercise mat, and a new scale. A Tanita body fat scale! I no longer have to worry that my scale is lying to me. And... I bought these smokin' pair of black velvety pants in a size that makes me  . I was shocked I got them zipped. |

| | Yesterday was a great day! Jogged for 3 miles. Then tried out the Belly Dancing Tape. It's sort of dull, but I was surprised at how much "work" it was! I actually worked up a bit of a sweat!
I'm going to Vegas in March and want a new bathing suit, so I've been looking in the after-Christmas catalogs for a bargain. In one I saw a very pretty brown suit. I remember that I had bought the same suit in black for my honeymoon, and that I kept it because it was expensive. Haven't worn the thing in many years - it was sooooo tight. So I dug it up and tried it on. It fit great! Then I pulled out my honeymoon pictures. I am noticeably thinner now! My thighs and arms are much smaller now than then. I was delighted! Now - here my problem (may need to go to home and garden for this). The suit has light underwire cups, and the thin padding in the cups got dried up and crunchy. Does anyone know if I can just buy replacements and change them, and if so how?
Anyway. Then I did some serious sweeping, mopping and scrubbing - figure that was good for an activity point, and the kitchen and bathroom look better.
When all was done, hubby and I went out for a healthy low-fat dinner and then saw "The Hours". Yeah - we go to lots of movies. This one was very good, but VERY sad.
I'll let you know what I do today. It's cold, the heat is pumping, and I might just crawl back in bed with my book! |

| | I ended up yesterday doing 5 minutes of jumping rope (now THAT'S a workout!!!) and 20 minutes of resistance bands.
And 5 hours of going through old tapes and transferring them to VHS. Yuck. Only an hour or two more today.

| | I used to love to jumprope. I wish I could start doing it again. But I'd feel too silly jumproping down the street of my apartment complex, and I live on the second floor so don't think my neighbor would appreciate me trying it inside.

| | I can't jump rope in my house -- there's no room. The garage would be perfect for a summer-time workout, but hubby lets his brother store all of his crap in our garage, so we can't even use it for our own stuff. Freakin' Open Door Mission up in here, lol...
Last night my kids went and stayed the night with my mom. Hubby and I went out to dinner and then saw Lord of the Rings! Wow.. I think it was even better than the first one. Then we came home and watched Signs, but I fell asleep.
Now I have to clean my house and get ready for our football gathering today. We're sooo hoping Tampa and Oakland win, so Oakland can play against Chucky and whoop their old coach's butt. |

| | Wow, Lynn! 5 minutes of jump rope is a lot! I have a jump rope and I try to get some in every now and then, but it makes me feel very out of shape! Luckily, I have enough room that I can use it in the house.
Today will be tough. I have NO motivation. I want to curl up with my book and snack the day away. I smell big trouble! |

| | I have no motivation to jog yet, but I did a half hour of belly dancing!
Cindy - you really should try it. I know you said you wanted to do ab work before your wedding. This is kind of fun! |

| | Ugh, I just can't picture myself doing belly dancing. Thanks for the recommendation, though. Maybe if I see a cheap video somewhere, I will pick it up.

| | I've always stayed away from the belly dancer videos, because I've only ever seen belly dancers with pot bellies. They can control them, but they are pots non the less. I never thought that made sense though. Perhaps I just have seen over-weight belly dancers though |

| | I was lucky enough to get to shovel snow at church this a.m. 30 minutes of aerobic exercise.
:p to that guy who says women don't belong on the church council. I was the only council member who bothered to shovel so no one would slip...the rest of them were sitting inside.
Came home to do 2 hours of housework, which counts somewhat. I'm going to get in some resistance bands again tonight. No skipping rope, not enough time today!
Margaret, I agree with you on the belly dancers with pot bellies. But I got voted off the island with that comment in another thread.

| I think it's more that traditional belly dancing celebrates that whole full-figured womanhood thing. Like women should be voluptuous and ample. Back a million years ago, ancient civilizations used to like that sort of look.
*Edited* to add that belly dancers are traditionally considered to have sexy and beautiful bodies. Being voluptuous and curvy is considered a sign of beauty. I didn't mean anything other than by my comment. Personally I think belly dancers look great.

| | The belly dancers on this video are not stick thin, but the certainly do NOT have pot bellies!
Anyway. Also did my walking video last night (after my pizza! ) | | |
