For what its worth - a serious runner told me that Gatoraid is loaded with sugar. You may want to check out the info on it and see if you still like it!.
After breakfast, I had:
2 calcium chews - 1 pt
A veggie sandwich - 4 pts
bean and rice soup - 3 pts
hard pretzels - 2 pts
a tootsie pop - 1 pt
the other half of the orange - 0.5 pts
and a ff hot cocoa - 0.5 pts
I've been drinking Gatorade because I'm afraid I'm losing too many electrolytes from being sick. Your friend is right that it is loaded with sugar. When I get back in the saddle again I'm going to be doing a half water half gatorade mixture when I train.
So far today:
2 small pieces of Italian Herb bread
(but I can smell bacon frying and I think I'll have to give in to temptation)
