Whiney Whiney Wednesday...feel free to gripe right here! 1/22/03

I have a challenge for y'all.

But first, the whine from me.

I'm exhausted! Stress level at work is pretty high and it's not likely to get any better for a couple of weeks. And to top it off, it took me 45 minutes to get in this a.m. because it's snowing (I don't mind the snow, I just don't like driving in it when it's early and the plows haven't been out yet.) Plus, I'm out of "blue stuff" in my car, so my windshield is all icky.

Now it's your turn. Whine away!

And here's your challenge....every Wednesday, we allow whining and the rest of the week I ask that you post the positive things you are doing in your life. There are lots of posters here on Wednesday! How about you join us on the other days as well....we'd love to have you join in the positive side of Health and Fitness as well.

Please don't have a miserable Wednesday - - is it nap time yet?

Lynn

Wednesday!

Well, I weighed myself this morning. Then I . Then I signed up for Nutrisystem.

I'd post more, but I'm so jammed, it's unbelievable. No time to whine.

Andrea

I have a headache.

The train got stuck in the tunnel and I got to work an hour late.

I'm not as energetic as I thought I would be close to a week after surgery.

The doctor doesn't have the pathology results back yet.

I didn't win the lottery again this week.

Good luck, Andrea and MJ!

My whine: it is cold out here. Damn cold. The temperature's in the teens, but feels 15 to 20 degrees worse because of the wind chill. Between that and a nasty bug that hit me after New Year's, I haven't been able to do my usual lunchtime walks.

On the other hand, dance classes start up again Sunday. This session, I'm doing two classes: foxtrot/tango, and salsa I (as a leader, ulp). I can't wait!

I'll whine about the fact that Jeffrey's deadlines keep him working from the early am to bedtime... and sometimes beyond... roughly six days a week for the past month or so, with probably several weeks to go yet. It wasn't so bad until his laptop died yesterday and had to be sent back for repair, which makes it harder for us to at least be together while he works late. Here's hoping it comes back soon. When it does, that'll be something for the "good stuff" thread.

And what's with this magically expanding wind chill advisory? It started a couple of days ago, -25 including wind chill conditions. The advisory said it was for one night. Then it was until the next morning (this morning). Now it's until this afternoon. I'm betting by then they'll have expanded it until tomorrow.

First the good things about my day...

FINALLY, I was able to exercise! I did 10 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes of weights, and only 10 situps. My abs are very sore from Monday, so I don't expect I will be doing many situps this week. It feels good to be exercising again.

Now for my whine...

I have to babysit my cousin's kids this week. The 5-yr-old uses even fouler language than me (and that's saying a lot), and asks too many questions. I'm not a kid person, and too many kids drive me insane. I have a hard enough time controlling and tolerating my own little helions.

What's worse is that I'm very dependant on routines. The same thing every day, or at least my day must be planned in advance. If things don't go as planned, it throws off my day, thus throwing off my entire week. Having them this week has thrown my week off, because nothing is going as planned. It has me confuzzled as how to deal with the change to my routine.

I'm weird, lol... :p

My left leg hurt last night and today. I think it's too much stomping on it at dance class. Waaah!

And I have too much work to do and not enough time to do it in. There's something new.

AGH! I knew it. They just expanded that winter weather advisory. It could get as low as -30 tonight with wind chill. I love the cold, and I love snow, but even a brief above-zero break would be nice.

Drat - when it was just MJ, it was kind of fun. Now, I feel bad ablout complaining about our weather. It is supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow and all weekend. In Florida that is colder than a #$%*&'s &$&, but compared to the rest of you, I really can't complain. It wouldn't be so bad if I still owned sweaters.

As I was telling someone in email yesterday: Just cause it's colder here than there doesn't mean you can't gripe. For you it's cold--that's what matters!

I'm with Ailsa: it's Damn cold! I walked a mile this morning and intend to get in another mile this evening.

But that's not my whine. I am a nervous wreck! My husband and I were house-hunting this weekend and found the perfect house for $40,000 less than we had budgeted to spend. We made an offer but the seller is a corporation and they have not gotten back to our agent (or their agent for that matter) and it's been more than 24 hours. I am freaking out that we will not get this house.

Allegedly, there are no other offers on the table at the moment, but I'm terrified that someone else will make a better offer (I can't believe this house has been on the market for two months and has not had a single offer--it's old but completely renovated in the last year). My stomach is doing flip flops because we made a purposely low offer but the corporation is dragging its feet to respond. My husband, of course, is completely calm.

Sshhh! MJ does not agree, but it appears that she will send me some free sweaters to shut me up! Cool! I wonder what size her husband's sweaters are. I know his boots won't fit me, but maybe the sweaters will be good!

Jogged 3.1 miles. Now I'm off to try a new exercise video that I borrowed from a friend. It's a "ball" workout. Can't wait to see the exercises!

My good stuff for the day is that I sat for two hours after school and a very FlyLady clean-out of my desk and the shelf and cabinet surrounding it. I have been meaning to do that since before Christmas, but today I finally had the time and motivation. I threw so much stuff out! I feel quite proud of myself.

The whine: it's freaking freezing. My battery died earlier this week. Then I got into an accident. Now a red light comes on in my car saying it's overheated, but it only comes on during cold starts. My hair froze yesterday when I went to start my car. And at work I'm having a hard time warming my car because I just want to go when I start it. I've been leaving it running in the lot, but I work in a busy facility and am worried someone will steal it.

Ok, that's the whine. Here's the good part, even if it's not health related -- I did all of that whining to my mom yesterday, and, as much as Amy will hate me for it, I am so excited because my mom is going to buy me a remote car starter! She feels bad that I am not allowed to put my car in the garage any more. She can't get that changed, but she can get the car starter and make life a little easier.

One more whine though -- it's freaking cold NOW, and I can't get an appointment to get the car starter installed until February 15th. That's three weeks away! Whaaaa!

Lynn, I'd like to join in on the daily good stuff more often, but, I'm a failure too often. I have a hundred and one excuses why I'm not doing more exercise. And each day I want to kick myself in the pants for not doing enough, but, I do the same thing the next day, and the next, and the next.

I was doing so well in the fall. But, it was nice out and I could walk outside. Excercise tapes aren't motivating me. They're boring the crap out of me, actually. I've considered joining a gym, but the germ factor creeps me out, as does the idea of working out infront of people who are "better" than me.

In other words, I'm too neurotic to talk about good stuff. I can't even make myself do good stuff.

Margaret, who is trying to stay positive, but is failing at that too.

Uh-uh.

There are NO failures here in H&F...only loosahs that are hidden and need to be brought out.

Stop by more often (like today ). We aren't all jocks here.
