| | Anyone else have this at home?
I just bought it for myself last night, and I can't wait for it to ship!
Basically, it's the craze that all the teens are into that "old" people are just starting to find out about. Count me in as "old" because I never heard of it before last night.
Those of you with teens might already own this product.
It is an arcade game that has dance moves. It's now available for Playstation and PS2. You need to buy one of the DDR games, as well as a dance mat. Then you'll learn the steps, and in no time, supposedly, you'll be a dancing fool.
Think of karaoke, but with movement instead of vocals.
I can't wait to get it. I think it will be a lot of fun and anything that encourages me to get up and moving can't be bad
So, has anyone else tried the Dance Dance Revolution? |

I once begged for, and got, the Danny Terri/K-Tel Book/Record set "How to Disco Dance." (Danny Terri was the choreographer for the Solid Gold Dancers.) I was scarred for life.
[/embarassing fact]
I think I'll stick to karaoke. Singing is much more my strong suit than dancing

| | That's the thing though, unless you are in the arcade, who will see you dancing with DDR? Plus, supposedly, even the uncoordinated get better with this game.
Just sounds like a fun way to exercise to me. |

| | I really wanted to get it about a year ago. But I don't have a Playstation, so I would have had to buy that as well as the game and the mat. I looked for it on Ebay, but every auction I found, the seller had dozens of negatives because they were selling cheap knock-offs. They all seemed to be dealers or something, and they had so many listings that I couldn't find any "regular" people trying to sell theirs.
Then I found my dance studio where I take classes twice a week, and that ended my DDR dreams.
Besides, my knees can turn bad at times, and I can't imagine all that jumping from square to square could be good for them.
Let us know how you like yours--I'll be curious!
Cindy

| | Thanks, Margaret! I feel so young! I've known about this for a long time (thought I've never done it, and I don't want it ). |

| | We have several different versions of the pads for this "game" including a hard one. My kids were really into it for about a year and haven't touched it for about 9 months now. There's about 3 different versions--Disney, Britney Spears and the original.
I should use it for exercise but haven't--we have a PS2.

| | Connie, there's about 10 different versions now.
I opted for the DDRMax, because it had the most songs, and because I can't stand the thought of Barbie, Disney, or Britney Spears. I'd much rather do it to trance music. Too bad they don't have a hip hop version! |

| | I have finally gotten to really use the game. I skipped the end of the training module. I never got past 2:8... I just promoted myself.
I went on to the workout module. Some of the other modules stop as soon as you mess up too much. I didn't want that. Workout keeps going, even if you suck.
I found out that I really suck at the game, but I don't care. It's so much fun. And in workout mode, it won't tell you that you suck. It just moves up to the next level.
The cool thing is you can pick your songs. I did pretty bad with songs I didn't know, but, as soon as I went to "I like to move it" and "Sandstorm" (songs from my club days), I did pretty well (or better, anyway).
This is too much fun. I give it my highest recomendation! And no, I don't work for them, and I'm not getting a commission, LOL. |

| | Hmmmm, maybe I ought to check it out on Ebay again. Not that I have the money for it and a Playstation right now, but I definitely ought to keep it in mind for later.

| | Cindy, I got the DDR Max, which is only available for PS2. However, there are other DDR games (including the original Dance Dance Revolution game) which work on PS1 as well.
I found out about this on the Sportbrain forums. Some of the people there bought PS1s on Ebay or at local used equipment stores, and then picked up the game and the pad.
Quite honestly, even if you spent $150 on everything (which, I think you can do better) I believe it would still be worth it.
But, finances aren't always perfect for investing in exercise equipment, as I know all too well.

| | Hmm... if you could make the arguement that John (that is your fiancee's name, right? I hope I'm not marrying you off to someone else) would use it as well, then it might belong on your registry |

| | Hrrumph. I tried to order this well over a year ago from Amazon....when I was majorly into stepping but before I was into walking distances outside. They had the disk but not pad or something or other, for months and months.
Well, it is finally springtime! here, at least for this week, so I'm going to try to walk outside....but I could really use something like this in the winter. Done nothing but sit on my fat butt all winter long.

| | Andrea, I've been walking outside and doing the DDR just for fun.
You can also order the bundle (pad and game) from redoctane.com .
Plus, it's going to be summer soon, and, I know I'd prefer to stay inside in the AC rather than out in the heat.
Margaret, who is going to have to push her butt outside anyway. | | |
