Clap! EA Losers - Monday Morning Weigh In

Ok folks, it's been a week since we've committed to getting ourselves in shape. Time to actually do something about it.

As painful as it may be, go step on that scale. I promise not to look over your shoulder. If you don't own a scale, hop in the car (or take a walk if it's doable) and head over to a local store that has one for customer use. Better yet, why don't you go see your doctor for a weigh in and discuss the best way you can go about your weight loss.

If you just can't do this, take your measurements (Make sure to measure just about every part you can think of. No not that one, wise ass.) Write down those numbers and put them in a safe place away from prying eyes.

If you can't bring yourself to do that, then try on your favorite pair of jeans and take note of how they fit.

Now, if you haven't yet started your eating plan, start it. Today. It's that simple. Go to the supermarket and pick out the foods you need and stock up. Having the right stuff available will help you avoid eating all the wrong stuff.

Set your goals. Break it down into reasonable, attainable mini-goals to allow you more occasion for celebration.

Then come back here and share your goals (or your results if you've gotten ahead of us. ) You need not tell us your weight. (I don't plan to. :p ) But do share your accomplishments. Do you want to lose 10% of your body weight in 3 months? Do you want to get back into those jeans by Labor Day? Or, do you just want to be able to maintain the weight you're at? Whether you have 5 pounds to lose or more than 100, let us help you and cheer you on.

Guess it's up to me to get this started.

I've been dieting for exactly 11 weeks now. In this time I've managed to shed 28.5 pounds. 2.5 of those this past week.

I still have a long way to go, but I'm motivated. I have a wonderful wardrobe sitting up in the attic waiting for me to fit into it again.

I'm just officially (which means seriously) getting started. I have 75 pounds to lose total (yikes) but am going to take it 15 at a time. I haven't measured yet so I have no clue how many inches I need to lose. (The scary thing is my oldest son weighs 73 pounds - I look at him and realize I need to lose the equivilant of his size - all in fat - and it really makes me feel bad.)

I know I will not succeed if I try to make big, sweeping changes - I rebel against myself too easily; so I'll be making little changes and weighing each Monday morning (post-potty and pre-coffee!).

This week's goal and plan:

- Lose 2 pounds (bringing short-term goal to - 13, long-term goal to -73)

- No soft drinks (unless I have to eat away from home) - only water and decaf (with fat-free French Vanilla Coffee Mate) to drink.

- Walk the neighborhood at least once

- Jump on the trampoline for at least 10 minutes twice

Small steps, right? I didn't get 75 pounds overweight over night - it's taken 15 years.

Kate (who has 3 wonderful wardrobes in the attic that are too small - in sizes referred to in my thin days as "Normal", "Fat", and "I'll Never Let Myself Get That Big") Oh well!

Kate,

It sounds like you have a great plan there. And a wonderful attitude.

You go girl!

Who also has clothes categorized by degree of fatness. Unfortunately the "I'll never allow myself to get this fat again clothes" have all been given away. Too bad. I'd be able to fit into them again after I lose about 25 more pounds.

I started last Monday, too, but haven't lost or gained anything. I have a really good excuse, though: Aunt Flo came to visit on Wednesday. That always throws me for a loop. So, to work, to work this week.

Oh Melanie. What a week to start. But good for you nonetheless. Keep up the good work and you'll have a pleasant surprise in store for you next week.

And, made sure to drink plenty of water to flush out the fluid you're retaining.

Clap!

No gain or loss other than the usual two-three pounds my weight seems to fluctuate depending on what time of day I weigh myself.

I did very well in sticking to my exercise routine last week, even with a flat tire on my bike. Except Saturday, I did some cardio or weight-lifting every day.

Now, if I could just motivate myself to go swimming today, or maybe a long walk, I think I'll be able to maintain my routine for the rest of the week.

Good job to those who lost a little something last week (inches, pounds, stress)!

And if you didn't, well, it takes time to get started so don't quit!

I still haven't found a scale (I'm amazed by how many places don't seem to have them), and my tape measure's still drifting across the country somewhere, but I'd say I'm probably about where I was last week. I'm going with the "lose 10 percent of your weight" goal, and actually, if I can do that, I'll be within 10 pounds of where I want to be. Fortunately, my boyfriend is big on eating fruits and vegetables at every meal, so being around him will be a good influence on me. This new pedometer is going to be a good influence, too.

Keep it up, everyone!

Cindy
