While I was on vacation, I reinjured my Achilles tendon while running. As I was with a massage therapist, she worked on it for an hour, iced it and told me to stop running for a while. So, I swam, hiked a lot and climbed a waterfall. It felt pretty good during these activities.
Then, the first night back, I went to karate. I managed to throw three kicks before collapsing. I've apparently torn the tendon, am off running for at least six months and off my feet and on crutches for a few weeks. No walking, not even karate. So, yesterday I went to the beach and swam and rowed for several hours. Any good ideas on fun upper body workouts (besides hauling myself around on crutches) and somehow maintaining my fitness level while I wait for this to heal?
