Air pollution? I would have thought the stress alone of the traumatic situation would be enough to trigger low-weight babies. They say they ruled out stress as a factor; wonder how they did that.

I'm guessing that they compared them to previously compiled data on women who gave birth in similarly traumatic, life-threatening situations.
Pregnant women in or near collapsing WTC had smaller babies
