Build Leg Muscles and Brain Cells at the Same Time

Exercising to Music May Make You Smarter

Quote:
Volunteers who listened to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" while working out on a treadmill did much better on a test of verbal ability than when they exercised without music, a team at Ohio State University found.
Go figger.

Re: Build Leg Muscles and Brain Cells at the Same Time

Personally, I would never exercise without music, and I always follow the beat of the music.

I love water aerobics (my only real exercise addiction--I can take or leave the rest) but get annoyed if the teacher doesn't follow the beat of the music or says, "go faster."

I'm like, "I can either go twice as fast to the beat of the music, to the beat of the music, or half as fast as the beat of the music, and that's it. If you want a speed other than that, change the music."

I really think that exercising to music helps the brain, and if I try to ignore the beat I don't feel nearly so good afterwards.

We are born into rhythm. The first sounds we ever hear are our mothers' heartbeats.

Well, it's the music then. Who needs treadmills? It's pizza and Vivaldi for me.

:whenpigsf Wow, gotta get the folks at the gymn to play Vivaldi so all of us can hear it when we excercise in the water. The average age of us water walking types is over fifty, and we need all the memory we can get. (Walking in the water, not on the water.
