| | Fingernails and water mold | | My nails are wrapped. I hate acrylic nails and won't do acrylics, but my nails are soft, and I need to wrap them to keep them nice. Since I'm in sales and show small product with my hands, I really like to keep them presentable.
Anyway, I've never had nail fungs - thank goodness - but during the summer months I sometimes get water mold. If a nail lifts, it happens, and I don't see till I take my polish off. It's not catchy, it doesn't spread to another nail, but it's repulsive. I never got it in NY - something about the humidity here.
Do any of you have tips about how to avoid or treat it.
It's harmless but ugly. |

| | Re: Fingernails and water mold | | I was reading about this the other day--don't remember where I was, I had googled "nail fungus"--anyhow--some guy was recommending a vinegar treatment. A few drops of white vinegar over the infected area 2 or 3 times a day--but--I think it could take up to 3 months to get rid of.

| | Re: Fingernails and water mold | | I was thinking for real, that maybe wiping them often with alcohol might work.

I think vinigar helps fungus - but mold is different. Maybe Tilex?
The alcohol might work - just to keep it dry.
My thumb nail is bad now, so I didn't wrap it. Cut it short and let it look like a little sausage. |

Are you certain that she didn't have a fungus or a parasite? | Or, bacteria poop even.
