| | EA Losers Club - Monday Weigh-in | | OK, losers, the moment of truth has arrived. It's Monday, and that means it's weigh-in time. Step on the scale, break out the tape measure, and let us know your progress.
If you don't like the numbers (or even if you do), what are you going to do this week to improve them? No ice cream? Stepping marathons? Walking the kids to school? There's something out there that you can do to build a better you! (Forgive me for taking the liberty to start this thread. I've come to depend on it each Monday.)

| | I lost two pounds this week!
I am so excited! I am now down into the numbers that the scale hasn't seen since the beginning of college! (Before you think that's too big an accomplishment, I did just start college seven years ago.)
This brings my total loss to eight, count them, eight pounds. This is just past halfway to my first goal, and 14 pounds away from my ultimate goal--to weigh what my driver's license says I weigh.
When I have tried to diet by myself, I never lost more than four pounds, and I always gained it right back. I have never been able to get a loss and then keep losing. I you guys.
This week I'm planning a lot of stepping. I discovered the joys of the apartment complex's exercise room, and besides, my DAZED team will kill me if I don't put in some serious numbers!

| | Well, I forgot it was Monday!
I didn't weigh myself first thing...but no matter how you slice it, it isn't pretty folks.
Time to get serious about what's going in!
According to my scale this AM, I gained five pounds! (didn't weigh in last week because I was on vacation) Now, we've got water weight gain for "that time" and the not-first-thing-in-the AM extra, but still....
I'm not a loser, I'm just DAZED.
Okay It's A New Year! Cyndiloooowhoooo said so, and I believe her. Time to see less of me.

Pity party over --- you go Cindy! That's fantastic!!!

| | Oh, and I'm sure Naomi will be kind enough to mention that all of my extra activity (I've doubled my activity level at least, if not close to tripled) is building muscle which weighs more...but, um, that doesn't explain why the jeans are still snug as a bug in a rug.
Walk today and tomorrow we diet!
Andrea
who knows the word "diet" is very unPC, but a rose by any other name still means you can't eat a box of Twinkies

Oops. I was supposed to start this--and
I forgot.
Can you imagine? The diet diva forgets to start the weekly weight loss thread?

| | It's okay, Andrea. You had a vacation week last week, as well as two non-helpful factors going on today. If I know you, you're going to step until you're DAZED this week. That, combined with times-of-months moving on and your new and improved eating plan, ought to take you right back to your pre-vacation weight.
Go Andrea! GO ANDREA! GO ANDREA!!!

| | Cindy... WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!
Please allow me to say that you are SUCH A LOOOSAH!
And Andrea...
You had a wonderful week. You got to cocoon with the family. You did tons of walking. Hell, you even brought home some freckles (I'm insanely jealous!)
All in all, you had a wonderful last hurrah to summer!
I admire the dedication of purpose you displayed at the grocery store. I admire your daily walking regimen. I admired your oven roasted turkey breast. You demonstrated excellent taste with your vitamin selection. Hell I even admired your Soy Milk.
When I came back from my vacation, I knew it was time to redouble my weight loss efforts. You seem ready to redouble yours! You Go Girl!!!!!

| | I'm at status quo, not bad considering I was away from the scale all of last week and traveling this weekend. I expected a slight increase so I'm happy that didn't materialize.
Andrea - Okay, I won't mention muscle weighing more than fat....this time. But with all those steps?

who somehow contrived to mention it anyway

| | I can attest to the muscle thing. I've always been really muscular and my "correct weight" has been judged (through various unpleasant means) to be about 60 lbs more than the supposed large boned weight for my height.
I once gained 10 pounds and lost 4 shirt sizes and one pants size. I wear a smaller size than my mom who is 6" shorter and weighs 50+ lbs less than I do.
It's frustrating to gain weight and lose clothes sizes, but it definitely happens.

Consider yourself flogged.
Well, I'm back. But considering that I've already eaten and it's hours past my regular weigh in time I'll hold off with my report until tomorrow. I suspect that it'll be one of those break even weeks. Which is better than a gaining week I suppose.
Congratulations to all you loosahs! Y'all done good.

| | Plus two pounds this week. And it's my fault. I ate more on Sunday than I have during the past two weeks combined, I think, and then I tried weighing in Monday morning. Not a good idea.
Two trips to the Oregon State Fair, and the second one involved 2 chocolate cakes, then we decided instead of driving a straight 30 minutes home, we'd head for the coast and watch the sun set over the ocean, drive down the coast and have dinner, and then head for home. It was fun, but besides dinner, there was ice cream and the rest of the chocolate cake that didn't get judged. Ah well. One memory like that is enough to keep me happy for quite a while.

Why do you folks think I picked Monday as weigh in day? Random selection? I think not. I was trying to help you behave on the weekends.

Ok, last week, I kept looking for this thread all day on... Sunday.
This week, I finally remembered just now that it was supposed to be weigh-in day this morning.
But today is Tuesday. I am so confused- and 2 pounds lighter as well.
I must be losing from my brain first.

| | Being away for a few days forced me to delay my weigh in until this morning. So, this number actually represents 9 days instead of 7. But I'll take it nevertheless. Especially considering that I was watching the scale rise dramatically mid-week. Fortunately that was just a tease. Whew.
After 9 days (2.5 of them soley on restaurant food) I am down 1.5 pounds.
It's slow going, but at least it's going.

Yippeeee!!! There are some serious losers in this club. I am proud to hang out with the bunch of you. Of course, if I don't start losing, I'm going to be the only one hanging out while the rest of you are nicely tucked in!
I had a false start on my official eating plan, getting sick will do that to you, but I'm ready to give it an official "go" tomorrow AM. Have it written down, I've done my shopping and everything. Yes, I have to make my own "diet". I can't go by anyone else's routine, that would be too, oh, unoriginal.
Oh and Lynn -- you are the biggest loser of all!
Cindy - you're a loser and not just in the brain cell category!
Sara --- slowly or not, you are a LOSER LOSER LOSER!
Andrea
soon to be a loser

| | Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
I HATE hormonal fluctuations.
I gained 1/4 pound this week.
I knew it was coming. It has gotten to the point where I can see as well as feel that I am on the road to water retention.
The fact that I knew it was coming made it no easier to take--especially knowing how virtuous I was this week (and it was tough to be virtuous, believe me).
Feh on that bleepin' scale.
Cyndi
Who knows that had she not been good, and had she not kept up on her water it would have been a 2 lb water gain. |

| Exactamundo! Face it Cyndi. Even with a blipette on the scale, you're still a loosah!
On the topic of water retention:
This is a huge (pun intended) problem for me. I decided to try an herbal remedy and just received it with yesterday's shipment of supplements.
As of this morning, I'm taking dandelion root, which is a natural diuretic that does not deplete the body of potassium. I'll let you ladies know if it seems to help.
I also started taking Dong Quai a few weeks ago in an attempt to regulate some rampant hormones. That may take a while to kick in. If I find it helps, I'll likewise let you know.
