| | What's your RealAge? | | I made a suggestion in another thread (Eating Plan) about taking the RealAge test. Since Deb and Cyndi were enthusiastic about it, I thought I would post more information and go ahead and start the thread for posting results (if you want to show and tell).
First, to take the test go here: RealAge.com
You will need the following things for a complete profile: (though you can take the test without these things, the computer will assign you an average for someone your calendar age; you can come back later and put in the missing information)
height
weight
heart rate
cholesterol count (HDL and LDL)
blood pressure
amounts of vitamins or supplements (milligrams, etc.)
knowledge of family medical history
The test is interactive and takes about 45 minutes to complete. At the end the computer will calculate your RealAge and show you a chart of your calendar age and RealAge right now, your calendar and RealAge in 90 days, and your calendar and RealAge in 3 years.
The website then will make recommendations and give you an age-reduction plan with suggested changes for your lifestyle. You can opt to implement some or any of these changes and then have your RealAge recalculated.
I don't remember my original results when I took the test about two years ago so I'm posting my current results instead, based on changes I made in my life (like taking vitamin supplements, eating more healthy foods, etc.).
Today
Calendar age: 30.4 RealAge: 20.7 Difference: -9.7 years
In 90 days
Calendar age: 30.6 RealAge: 20.4 Difference: -10.2 years
In 3 years
Calendar Age: 33.4 RealAge: 22.3 Difference: -11.1 years
I go back in and update my answers to the questionnaire every now and then, just to get an idea of whether I'm improving my overall results by doing or not doing something. I also update my answers when something in my life changes significantly.
One of the biggest areas that I need to work on is reducing stress in my life. I ranked very high in that area because I move almost every year and I got married (twice--to the same man) in the past year. But, I also have a good support system in my friends and family so that helps alleviate my bad score in this category.
So how young are you?

| | Grrrrrrr.....
I can't even be the same age. I get to the nutrition section of the test and my computer freezes up. It has happened 3 times so far. There seems to be problems with that particular section. : < grumble...>
I guess I'll go back and try again tomorrow

I also used Amy's email address because that was far too much personal information to divulge. Amy, any email you receive about cutting out the illicit drugs, well, sorry..... |

| | Gee, I'm not as old as I thought I was! | | It's giving my chronological age as 25.6, but my RealAge as 18.3. No wonder I still act like a teenager sometimes!

| | This was a really fun link! Useful, too.
My realage was 5.6 years younger than my bio-age (wrong terms, I'm sorry!), but I didn't have a lot of the cholesterol/medical type info to put in...I'm going in for my annual next week, so should have that to enter then.

(validating in her own mind at least that she's NOT middle-aged, haha!)

| | I took this test a few weeks ago. I'm really 4 months younger than I am.
I got busted on past behaviors (I've changed most of them but can't get credit for that) and family history (nothing I can do about that).
I'm going to the doctor tonight for the results of the last series of blood tests I took and a blood pressure check. I'll plug those numbers in when I get home and see if I didn't lose another weeks worth of age. One can hope.

Decrepit but trying

| | Wow! I love this site- I got to shave 9.1 years off my age!
As for my recommendations, they point out that if I drive slower, I can make my numbers go down even more...

| | | Last time I took this thing, I was 10 years further along the depreciation scale than I ought to be.
I think I will wait until the walking and jogging have done their duty and I exit Life Limbo for the next act in this screwed-up tragedy of a play I fret my hour upon. |

| | Well it says I am +2.8, which is a lot better than I expected given some of my medical problems.

| | Well finally got through the entire test-- sheesh--and as I expected, am a bit "older" than my chronological age--although not as old as I expected I would be told!
Newsflash: If I quit smoking I would be much younger.
The good news of course is that all the other changes I have made over the last few months are paying off.
That was nice!

| | I plugged in my new numbers and the additional vitamins that I'm taking and took years off my age. Two and a half to be exact.
It's a start.

Whose blood pressure dropped from 135/96 to 118/74 in 4 months

Diet, exercise and an obsessive personality.
The support of all the people in this forum doesn't hurt either.

| | RealAge: 22.7
Actual Age: 24.7
Although, I'm not sure what to think. The test didn't quite seem complete. It didn't ask about cancer, radiation & x-rays, or various other things. I expected to be older than my actual age, but because the test was only moderately complete, I was younger. Go figure.

| | I'm pretty sure the test asked me, the first time I took it anyway, about my health and family history to include various forms of cancer. Weird.
I don't know if it's been conclusively proven that the number of X-rays the average adult is exposed to have long-term effects on aging.
The test is interactive so you may not have gotten as many questions based on your first few answers, or because of your relatively young calendar age, the test might have skipped certain questions.
