I went to give blood tonight. I just donated eight weeks ago with no problems, but today my hemocrit was too low. 
I'm bumming. I've never had this happen before! |

I remember when I had that happen a long time ago. I was bummed, too. Sorry, just work on it and I'm sure you'll be right back at it. Are you still taking your prenatal vitamins?

I'm no longer allowed to give blood at all. I was majorly bummed when I found this out - right around 9-11. I just have to find other ways to help. |

I can't donate because I had a melanoma and I have some other antibody that rules me out from ever donating anything but money. |

I'm O-, their favorite (and most valuable) donor. That's why it's extra especially a bummer for me. I'm also 1/2" too short for double red donation, which is why I really try to get there every time. |

What is a double red donation? I've donated for 20 years (B+ another favorite) and never heard of that.

That is a weird difference between guys and gals!
I'd heard of the double thing, but I thought it was 5' 2" for women.

It will probably be a while before we'll see something like that in our community blood drives. They come quite a ways and set up in my church. Not sure how mobile the technology is. I wouldn't mind doubling donating since I'm there anyway. Somtimes I even eat the cookie!
