Talking 20 minutes to a buff butt

I've never had a buff butt.

Only 20 minutes? Hey, I'll take a longer lunch.

Actually, the exercises look simple enough for even me to follow.

What do you guys think?

Andrea

My knees are screaming just at the thought of those squats. But I do know the last exercise is one recommended for strengthening the hamstrings and I really can't see any harm in trying any of them.

Sounds good to me, Andrea.

With your back history I would offer a few recommendations:
  • Hold off on using the weights until you can do the exercises with ease.
  • Do the squats while holding onto the back of a chair. This will ensure that you both keep your balance and your back and knees properly aligned. You can also try this with the lunges.
  • When you're ready to add the weights don't overdo it. Start off with very light ones and move up gradually.

The beauty of these exercises is that you can even do them in the office (when no one is looking). You needn't waste 20 minutes of precious home stepping time on them.

Who really needs to be doing them too

I actually do those squat and lunge type exercises at home, but I have found they are good for your thighs--I didn't know they were also good for butts. I might do them a little differently though.

The Kathy Smith Great Buns and Thigh Step Workout makes use of a lot of those movements without the weights. I definitely noticed a harder backside after doing it for several weeks.

Sigh...

I don't think I'll ever have a "buff butt" again--unless I can find a crane to follow me around

I second Sara's cautions. Be careful! Some of these exercises can really throw your back out of whack if you are not very careful and take pains to pace yourself.

Who'd like to politely point out that you will never get a "buff butt" if you have to stay in bed all day nursing an aching back

Maybe that's why I had more back pain this summer than I have in awhile. I'll have to watch out for that.

The other day when I took my son shopping for gym shorts, I wandered into a health food store to look at vitamins and supplements.

I can't believe how many extra things seem to be essential to good health and well being! The only thing I was seriously tempted to consider was the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet book and an accompanying bottle of vinegar. I know we had a thread on this . . . did anyone actually get far enough into it to see results?

Some of the products promised results on certain body parts. My bugaboo is my tummy and hips. The walking is taking care of my legs and thighs, but I'm wondering if anyone has combined an exercise plan with organic helps?

looking for a shortcut

p.s. Andrea, want an exercise buddy? These exercises look doable and the first one will increase our step totals too

Yes, I saw results. It aggravated my gastroesophageal reflux problem.

Silly me.
