| | Ouch. I hit my gum while brushing my teeth the other day, and a couple days after that discovered that it created a small ulcer where I smacked it. It HURTS like everything and driving me crazy. I've heard of dabbing with hydrogen peroxide, but it's not helping.
It's not quite bad enough to bother with something like Anbesol for the pain, I just want to get it healed and be done with it.

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | Why not use Anbesol, or one of those canker sore meds? they're relatively harmless. You can also rinse with warm salt water.

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | Ow ow ow. Peroxide will not keep it from hurting.
For pain, mix a tsp. of Benadryl with a tsp. of Milk of Magnesia and swish it around several times a day. It will form a film on top and keep it from hurting so much. |

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | Ouch, sorry! I still have bad memories of when I did the same thing. Really the $5 you'll spend on Kanka will be so worth it! And you will use it again.

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | I was going to say, the store brand is cheap and once we got it in the house, we used it a lot. Pizza burns, canker sores, overzealous flossing injuries...

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | I use dental perioxide solution (gel) on my canker sores all the time and they numb it instantly. Are you using the right stuff? I think I've even used a swish of regular peroxide and it works okay temporarily.
I feel for you though. I used to get them a lot and have not gotten in a while. They hurt!!!!

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | The peroxide doesn't numb at all - I've been using it for the healing rather than numbing. In fact, it actually burns just a tiny bit when I put it on.
It does seem to be a wee bit better this morning, not as swollen and tender.

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | When I was younger I used to get canker sores a lot. Someone suggested I use a cyptic stick on them. It worked and is cheap. (I'm not sure I spelled it right. It is the stick thing that men use to touch up when they cut themselves shaving). Do they even make these anymore???? lol |

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | I saw one at Walmart just a few days ago. It was located in a strange place but was by the pharmacy. I'd ask. A person should have one of those around just because. If it works on cankers and mouth sore that's a bonus.

| | Re Owie, owie - mouth ulcer | | I've found that Listerine numbs these things long enough for me to
eat and feel normal for a while. And I used to get them all the time and they'd get really bad. Nothing really helped. About 5 years ago someone told me about a prescribed med that helps, but I didn't bother to look into it because they aren't as bad as they used to get and the Listerine helps enough for me to stop complaining.
Good luck, I hate mouth ulcers.
I actually got throat ulcers once, mostly from nervousness. Nasty. | | |
