question CT scan vs. MRI

I know that a CT scan uses radiation and a MRI uses magnetic fields, but I thought that the images that they created where more or less the same. What would one show that wouldn't be visible on the other?

Re CT scan vs. MRI

An MRI shows clearer more specified pictures.

Re CT scan vs. MRI

After my second concussion, I had an MRI and then after, the doctor ordered a CT scan. I'm thinking they show different things entirely? We need Dr. MNM.

Re CT scan vs. MRI

CT scans and MRI scans are used for very different purposes in terms of diagnosis. Usually, an MRI offers a clearer view of soft tissues, especially neurological, but that's not always true. CT scans be better for certain kinds of bone views and often are preferred for abdominal organs. There's also an economic consideration. MRI scans are 3-5 times as expensive as CT scans. If you can find out the information you need from a CT, why do an MRI?

Be guided by a medical professional in choosing the right imaging for a particular problem or body part.

Dr. MNM

Re CT scan vs. MRI

idk if this will help but ...

my doc said he was pretty sure that i had a bad sinus infection so he sent me for an MRI ... it was so bad that the MRI detected it so I was treated for it and I am still getting these weird headaches so now i have to go for a Cat Scan ... i'm guessing that will tell them more about my sinus infection? either way, it sucks lol
